A serious fence and threatening signage makes viewing the lighthouse tough.

Cove Point Lighthouse was the stop right before Drum Point, and is really only located a few miles away . We once again followed the instructions from the Cheslights Website, but it was still really confusing trying to find the place. Problem was Maryland State Route 497 is everywhere !!!! We had at least 5 opportunities to turn off of State Route 2/4. Once we did turn off and go a few miles before going back to the main road. After that we just looked for signs that said Lighthouse Road, and eventually we got there.
And what you see in the photo above is what we saw. Presently it is closed and gated although it is said that the Coast Guard will give tours in the summer. I've also heard that The Calvert Marine Museum is in the process of taking over the site and the buildings so that they may be opened to the public. There are signs all over the place telling you to Keep the Hell out. We believed them and took a few shots and left.
The Cove Point Lighthouse was built in 1828 and still retains the original tower. It is 51 feet tall and was build by John Donohoo, the same person who built the Concord Point Lighthouse and many of the other similar lighthouses in the Chesapeake region.
The light and keepers house and the other building on the site are listed in the National Register of Historic Places. The station was automated in 1986 but the Coast Guard still uses the building for personnel.

This is the best view I was able to get shooting through the fence.
